UberDisplays + Anthony James Partners (AJP) Light up the Tsongas Center
The Tsongas Center at the University of Massachusetts Lowell received an extensive technology upgrade with the installation of advanced LED display systems by UberDisplays, in collaboration with technology consultants Anthony James Partners (AJP), Phoenix Signs, and Mercier Electric.
“The demolition and installation of the display was an exceptional effort that involved numerous contractors all working in unison to complete the work before the River Hawk’s home opener.”
— Ryan Washburn, Senior Project Manager, UberDisplays
Project Scope
The Center-Hung Display
The highlight of the installation is the stunning four-sided curved center-hung LED display, featuring a 3.9 mm pixel pitch for crisp and detailed imagery from every angle in the arena. This seamless design enhances the energy of every game and creates a focal point for fans to experience live gameplay, instant replays, and in-game graphics with exceptional clarity and precision. In collaboration with Josh Echo-Hawk of Sports Graphics Now, UberDisplays also provided professional-level sports graphics customized for the River Hawks, guaranteeing the center-hung content will feature the kind of gritty hockey energy that grabs the audience’s attention.
The LED Ribbon Displays
Two 305-foot LED ribbons encircle the Tsongas Center, adding movement and visual excitement throughout the venue. These displays are perfect for real-time game statistics, sponsor messages, and crowd engagement prompts, ensuring fans stay connected no matter where they are seated.
Technology
Across the entire installation, UberDisplays delivered a total of 2,193 square feet of LED and more than 7.9 million pixels, powered by NovaStar H9 processors and streamlined by a LynTec Power Controller, which provides automated sequencing and monitoring for the system. The result is a high-performance display network that always provides incomparable image quality, reliability, and operational flexibility for all events.
Partnership and Impact
Collaboration from both UberDisplays and AJP ensured project success from ideation to installation, and has transformed the Tsongas Center into a modernized, visually dynamic venue for collegiate hockey and more.
“UberDisplays was outstanding to work with on our recent LED replacement project for both our center-hung and ribbon boards. From the bid process through final installation, we consistently felt like their top priority. That high level of service carried through every touchpoint—sales, project management, installation, and everyone else we interacted with. The entire experience was smooth, collaborative, and genuinely enjoyable.”
— Keith Vaske, District General Manager, Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell
